Directions

This project was published in Canadian Scrapbooker Basics Volume 3. See other works by Cathie Allan and learn her technique for creating this unique background paper look at http://www.canadianscrapbooker.ca

    1. Create background paper. Make at least 2 full sheets. Brayer broad stripes of colors taken from photos across a sheet of white card stock. Overstamp with a background stamp and cream or white ink. Cover with a sheet of clean newsprint and iron on the back until heat set and dry. One sheet will be the background of the page and the other will be used to make all the elements.
    2. Stamp words on background paper in VersaMark ink and emboss with Midnight Black Embossing powder. Cut into rectangles with trimmer. Cut rectangles from white card stock 1/4" bigger than title rectangles. Distress edges wtih scissors edge, bone folder, or finger nail. Mount words on white backgrounds.
    3. Cut a 6" strip of background paper and use Scor-It Board to frame out two large photo areas. Apply Be Creative Tape to top and bottom of this strip and wrap fibers around strip adhering to tape. Fibers can be pieced on the back if necessary. Tie a knot on the lower front group of fibers. Adhere photos within frames, overlapping in center.  (Cathie trimmed around people in photos to create a seamless image.)
    4. Emboss the Ruffled Bloom stamp with black powder on background paper three times and cut out. Mount on distressed white card stock as in step 2 above.
    5. Adhere strip created in step 3 to center of 12" X 12" background paper. Add title pieces and blooms to page using dimensional foam adhesive. Add additional embellishments as desired.
